Dentures in Rotherham
At One44 Dental

If you are missing some or all of your teeth, One 44 Dental is extremely experienced at creating both partial and full dentures. There are various different materials to choose from including acrylic, metal or flexible dentures. They are custom-made to fit snugly over your gums to replace missing teeth and counteract any problems missing teeth may cause –such as problems eating, speaking, unwanted movement of existing teeth and facial sagging.

Unlike crowns and bridges, dentures need to be removed daily for cleaning. This helps maintain oral comfort, confidence, nutrition, long-term gum health, jaw alignment, appearance, and overall wellbeing. If you’re looking for dentures in Rotherham, contact us today and our friendly team will be happy to help.

how to look after your dentures?

Just like with natural teeth, dentures are susceptible to plaque and food build up. Denture care is important to keep your gums and any remaining teeth healthy.

Dentures should be cleaned daily using a soft brush and a cleaning agent such as soap and water or a specialist denture paste. Toothpaste is not recommended for dentures. The reason for this is that it is abrasive and can therefore cause tiny scratches on the denture which can harbour bacteria and increase staining.

There are soft brushes available that have been specifically designed for dentures. Ensure you brush every area of the denture. Bacteria from food particles can get between the teeth so use a toothbrush to rub gently between the spaces of every tooth.

One thing that dentists hear a lot of is how patients have broken their dentures by dropping them into the sink when cleaning them. We therefore recommend that you clean your denture over a sink full of water or over a folded towel to give your denture a soft landing if it is accidentally dropped.

when should you remove your dentures?

We recommend removing your denture overnight. It is important to give your gums chance to rest and receive beneficial exposure to the antibacterial agents naturally present in saliva.

When removing your denture place it either in a glass of water or a denture cleansing solution. It is important not to let the denture dry out. Ensure the water isn’t too hot as this could warp the shape of your denture.

Dentures in Rotherham: Types available

Full dentures

If you have few to no healthy teeth remaining, dentures are likely the best option for you. The process of getting dentures involves taking care of any existing oral health concerns, like removing damaged or diseased teeth and healing infections. Once your mouth has healed, usually 3-6 weeks after starting the process, you’ll get your final set of dentures.

partial dentures

If you are only missing a couple of teeth, then partial dentures may be the right choice for you. They usually cost less than full dentures and can quickly restore your smile. In some cases, you can even get same-day dentures installed.

Dr Andrew Cope

GDC-74712

Practice Partner Andy Cope originally qualified as a Dental Technician in 1991 before later retraining and graduating from Sheffield Dental School as a Dental Surgeon in 1998. Andy worked in General Practice in both Sheffield and Derby before taking over One 44 Dental Ltd with his wife Tracey in March 2015.

Andy loves all aspects of restorative and cosmetic dentistry; from crowns and bridges to composite (tooth-coloured) fillings, to making dentures and restoring dental implants.

He has also spent many years providing endodontics (root canal treatments) both in-house to his own patients and to those patients referred to him, specifically for this treatment, from other practices. He also provides facial aesthetic procedures such as dermal fillers and anti-wrinkle treatments.

Andy very much likes to take the time to build up a rapport with his patients; to know and understand their dental requirements as an individual and work together with his patients as a team. He will discuss all treatment options available to you and work with you to devise the best course of treatment individually for you. At one 44 Dental, we use the best/latest materials and equipment to provide you with first-class dental care.

Outside of Dentistry Andy enjoys making lots of fun memories with his children and has recently started running.
